At the weekend, James & took a stroll around Place Brugmann in Brussels.
During the summer, I cycled through the square at Place Bruggman to find the bars and restaurants spilling out onto the streets. The atmosphere was electric. As well as being the perfect place for an after work drink during the summer, the square hosts fantastic restaurants and bars worth visiting all year.
Despite the chill in the air, on this February Saturday afternoon, the terraces were full of fur-coated customers sipping on crisp wine and eating local yummy treats.

After our stroll and with our tummies rumbling, we decided to follow suit and join the masses on the winter sun-soaked terrace at Plash Brugmann, a little restaurant beaming with locals.

I opted for filet mignon & frites with béarnaise sauce

The sauce was wonderful, perfect for dipping. Oh so naughty.

James enjoyed a duck and fig salad, doesn’t it look divine?

Regardless of how yummy it was, James was obviously struck with food envy and he swiftly tucked into my frites.
I am sure I have mentioned before that the Belgians are not renowned for their service skills. Their food, yes but not their service. This is something I have finally become accustomed too. I now sit back and relax like the locals. Without realising, our lunch stop became a three hour lunch date offering us plenty of time to catch up. I think we are becoming “accustomed”.
