For “almost” the last leg of our trip, James & I travelled to Gili Trawangan. From Bali, you get to the Gili Islands by plane from Bali to Lombok and then take a short boat trip or you can take a large boat from Bali (for just over an hour and a half) to any of the Gilis.
There are two choices of transport on the island for those with suitcases, on foot or by horse and cart. I wasn’t so keen on the horse and cart but we went for it – just to transport our luggage to our accommodation. Otherwise everyone is on foot or bike.
James & I stayed at Gili Eco Villas, which really is as beautiful and idilyic as its website describes.
Guests are treated to their own two bedroom villa – perfect for families with young children as well as couples escaping the world.
Inside our wonderful Villa
Complete with an outdoor bathroom.
Guests can relax by the pool, on the beach or in their own villas.
James & I even had an afternoon massage in one of the beach huts – listening to the waves lapping on the shore – literally heaven.
Each morning, James & I enjoyed a delicious breakfast on the beach in the shade and with a cooling fresh breeze before a day of scorching sun.
Having visited a few different places for lunch and dinner we soon realised the best food was served at our hotel – so we hardly ever left – enjoying a peaceful dinner for two on the beach, even if it was a little windy.
